  WELCOME TO MY NEW WEBSITE

Hi Friends,

I have been an entertainer most of my adult life... a singer of songs.  The gift of music was passed down to me by my father, Don Parmley who was for many years the studio banjo player for the Beverly Hillbillies TV show.  He taught me the fundamentals of rythmn, timing and note selection.  Dad had, and still has, an incredible ear for precise harmony singing, and very little tolerance for anything less.  Lord knows how many times he stopped me right in the middle of a word that did not meet his ear exactly right, and we sang the offending note, notes, or phrase over and over again, until it was, in his judgement, "done  right."

I have carried those lessons with me as constant companions and I must confess, they have served me well.  I've had an incredible career, for which I am truly grateful.

Some things change though, and I made several changes over the last year or so.  Most notably, I...
  • moved closer to my parents
  • changed my diet
  • decreased the number of days away from home
  • found bandmates able to accomodate a limited number of tours dates
  • launched a new website to keep us in touch with you!
The one thing I will NEVER change is my desire to make good,  uncompromised music.  I love American traditional music  and have devoted my entire adult life to it, and the fans who love it, too.

Whether you're an event producer or a fan, you can count on David Parmley & Continental Divide to put on an energetic, entertaining show, start to finish.  That's a promise!

Hope to see you in person soon.  In the meantime, keep up with us right here on our website, and don't forget to sign up for our E-newsletter.  Just click the box on the "Contact Us" page.

NOTES FROM

CAMP DAVID

Vern Gosdin

1934-2009

I can't remember a time there wasn't music in my life, and some of my earliest memories are of my dad, Don Parmley, singing with Vern & Rex Gosdin.  I grew up listening to Vern and only grew to respect his incredible talent with every passing year.  To my ear, nobody could wring the emotion out of a song any better... he felt every word and note. There's a reason why they called him "The Voice." Vern is simply one of the greatest country singers of all time, and his musical legacy is "chisled in stone!"

Contratulations!!!

All the members of Continental Divide join in congratulating Larry and Dreama Stephenson on the birth of their daughter, April 25th.

Station Inn Update...  We had a ball at the world famous Station Inn April 25th.  Good to see and visit with a gaggle of long-time friends out: Roland White, Ronnie Reno, Wes & Deborah Probst, Dickie & Missie Nugent, John Marquess, Jeff Booher and and host of others.

Musically, we rolled out an assortment of bluegrass standards, a few "Cardinal Classics," a couple selections from the latest release, Three Silver Dollars and, as always, some gospel music.  If the crowd had half as much fun as we did, we'll consider the night an overwheliming success!

Please continue to support live music at the Station Inn
