News From the Driver's Seat
| Thanks Both Beckie and I celebrated birthdays this, the first week of February, and wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for the hundreds of greetings we received. We are humbled and so thankful for all our friends, worldwide. With Deep Regret Bluegrass music lost a great friend when Sterling Belcher of Rocky Mount, VA was called home in late January. It was my honor to stand along side of my friends, Larry Stephenson, James King, Kevin Richardson, and Randy Graham to pay our respects to Sterling in song. My deepest regrets and sympathy go out to the Belcher family. Name My Studio Contest Ends Soon
The new recording studio is nearly complete and the first order of business is for us to record Church House Hymns, Volume II. Try as me might though, we can't come up with a name for the studio we all like, so we're leaving it in the capable hands of our fans, with our "Name My Studio" contest. No tough rules here... just Email your suggestion(s) to me at: davidparmley@hotmail.net The lucky winner will receive an autographed 4 pack of CD's, incl uding Church House Hymns, when released. Our mascot, Buddy, suggested "Dave & Buddy's Woofless Studio, and snarled a bit when reminded that band members and their families, including well intentioned mascots, are not allowed to enter. That leaves things wide open for you, so get those entries in... contest ends soon! |

| Side Lines Steve Day Ever wonder what the members of Continental Divide do when they're not on the road? In the next few months, we'll feature a member of the band and let you know what lengths they go through to support their bluegrass habit. To kick the series off, we turn our spotlight on none other than "the Fiddle Man," Steve Day.
in addtion to being a devoted husband and father to an active teenager, Steve and his father, Hargis Day, raise Charolais cattle on their famiily operation, the H & S Charolais Farm, near Caneyville, KY. Steve also teaches fiddle, guitar, and mandolin at his studio in Bowling Green (KY), and is sought out to supply tasteful fiddle lines and vocals for several country and bluegrass bands. Steve can be seen regularly on the popular syndicated Cumberland Highlanders TV show. If you, or someone you know, has the desire to play bluegrass music, give Steve a call at: 270) 784-2288, and learn from one of the best. |

| Pickin' with the Parmleys I don't know how many hundreds of times I've been asked if my dad still plays his banjo since he retired a few years back. While he has no interest in running the roads like he did for so many years, dad still plays nearly every day, and performs occasionally with his band, Don Parmley & the Kentucky 5, which includes my cousins, Jason and Austin Stephenson. We all live within a stones throw from one another, and never get to play together. Something had to be done about that, so we did. We've coaxed Dad and his band to join Continental Divide for a special one day event, "Pickin' with the Parmleys" to be held at Dalton's Music Barn, on KY 90, in Monticello, Kentucky, Saturday, April 2nd. In addition Dad, Randy Graham, and I will team up to answer requests in a rare reunion of the original Bluegrass Cardinals. We hope you'll join us for an unforgettable evening jammed packed with fun, laughter, and great music. The fun kicks off at 7PM with outstanding bluegrass gospel music from our friends and hosts, The Dalton's. Information and ticket outlets will go up on our website soon. See you there!! David |
